James concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial real estate law, commercial leasing, acquisitions, development, financing, corporate and business law.  He serves a diverse client base that includes developers, landlords, tenants, financial institutions, borrowers, public and privately held companies and entrepreneurs.
 
In his real estate practice, James has extensive experience representing clients in commercial real estate acquisitions, development projects, dispositions and landlord and tenant leasing.  His experience includes negotiating numerous retail leases on behalf of landlords for all types of national retail tenants in shopping centers, strip malls and stand alone locations.  As part of his work on development projects, he counsels developers in negotiating and structuring acquisitions, leases and dispositions and oversight of construction.  James also has experience in zoning and land use law, including representing clients at zoning and other public hearings, obtaining conditional use permits, special use permits and variances, and conducting meetings with public officials and zoning administrators.
 
In his finance practice, James has extensive experience representing financial institutions, private lenders and borrowers in commercial loan transactions, including revolving and fixed loans, construction loans, mezzanine loans, REO disposition and advising lenders on collateralization and securitization issues.  James also counsels business clients in performing due diligence, advising on entity formation, preparing formation documents and resolutions.
 
James is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
